The Rev. Kenneth L. Bean, 66, of Lake City, died June 2 at the Tennova Hospice in Halls. He was born Feb. 14, 1947.

He was called to preach in 1985, pastored five churches, and had a radio broadcast at WYSH and open church at Clinton Towers for two years. Rev. Bean was a member and deacon at Pine Ridge Baptist Church for 13 years. He worked for Y-12 in Oak Ridge for 44 years, where he retired. He was highly respected and known as an expert in rabbit hunting, in which he had written many articles and short stories for 'The Rabbit Hunting' magazine.
The Rev. Bean was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Lawrence and Joyce Bean; sister and nephew, Barbara Sue and Doug Brewer; brother, Keith Bean; and son, Ken Bean Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Bean of Lake City; granddaughter, Trinity Bean of Lake City; daughter, Janet Enix and husband, Denny of Caryville; grandchildren, Alishia and Enrique Rosas of Jacksboro, Josh McCoy and fiancŽ Jamie Szczygiel, who served as Rev. Bean's caregivers, Savannah and Miguel Izquierdo of Lafollette; 6 great-grandchildren; stepmother, Dorothy Bean Ferrell; brother, Larry and wife Lisa Bean of Clinton; sister, Sandy and husband Leonard Scarbro of Clinton; hunting companions, Mike Queener and Mike Wilson. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life was June 4 with Pastor J.J. Patterson, the Rev. Verlan Langford and the Rev. Steve Seiber officiating. Intermentw as June 5 at the Anderson Memorial Gardens.
