Sarah Kathleen Daugherty, 85, of Jacksboro, died April 8. Sarah was born on Jan. 1, 1928. She was the seventh child of eight born to Fred J. and Lizzie Vinsant of Jacksboro. Sarah married Carlos Daugherty in May of 1946 and raised a family of three boys, Don Carlos, Lawrence Lynn, and Keith Vinsant.

Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years Carlos and son Don Carlos in December 2008.
She is survived by her younger brother, Robert Don Vinsant of Gladstone, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Kim of Jupiter, Fla., Keith and Pam of Jacksboro and Brenda Daugherty of Dunlap; grandchildren, Crystal Daugherty Hillis of McMinnville, Chad Lawrence Daugherty of Knoxville, Jessica Diane Daugherty of Jacksboro. She was a long-standing active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for all of her life. She was a gentle woman who enjoyed life and she always had time for family. The entire family offers our thanks to Niva Williams for being a good friend and assistant to Sarah during her health issue times.
Funeral services are today at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Mullens officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
