Clarence Willard "Cotton" Suttles, 82, of Speedwell, died July 27 at Turkey Creek Medical Center, surrounded by a host of family and friends.

He was born Oct. 10, 1931, in the Lone Mountain community of Claiborne County to Lee and Mamie Ousley Suttles.
He married Bea on October 15, 1956, and was of the Holiness faith.
He was a tractor mechanic who loved spending time with family and friends and sharing his wisdom.
He was an avid collector of knives and coins and enjoyed hunting and nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Berry "J.B." Suttles; great-grandsons, Bryson Lee Gilbert and William Hunter Eastman.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Parrott Suttles; sons, Clarence Jr. Suttles and wife, Pam, Michael Suttles, all of Speedwell and Andre Suttles, of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Debbie Suttles Richardson and, husband Tom, Karen Suttles McCulley and husband, Scotty, all of LaFollette, Brenda Suttles Gilbert and husband, Billy, Alice Suttles McCombs and husband, George, all of Speedwell; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Lassie Smelser and husband Bob, of Celina, Ohio; nephews, Doug Hensley, of Cumberland Gap, Randy Williams, of Celina, Ohio; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were July 30 at Cross-Smith Chapel with the Revs. Jim Hurst and David Mundy officiating.
Music was by Billy Gilbert.
Interment was in Dunn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Bub Johnson, B.J. Gilbert, John "Cotton" Eastman, Robert Eastman, Willie Suttles and Byron Gilbert.
Cross-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
