Allen, Ola McDowell  
Mrs. Ola McDowell Allen, age 83, of LaGrange, passed away on May 1, 2016 at the Florence Hand Home. Mrs. Allen was born on December 30, 1932 in Hamilton, Georgia to the late Olin McDowell, Sr. and Willie Railey McDowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William David Allen, Sr. and her son, Ray Dale Allen. For many years she worked for the Troup County School System as a Lunch Room Manager and as a Homemaker caring for the needs of her family. She was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Rev. Billy Allen and his wife Pat of Pine Mountain; daughter, Robin Pike and her husband G.W. of LaGrange; sisters, Catherine Geter of Pine Mountain, Docia Chatham of Lanett and Maynell Modlin of Pine Mountain; grandchildren, Ben Allen (Gina), Greg Pike (Jennifer), all of LaGrange; great grandchildren, Kaison Pike and Autumn and Allie Allen; extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Beech Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Sonny Harris and Rev. Cleve Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Knight, Wayner  
Mrs. Wayner Knight, 88, of LaGrange passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Wayner was born November 9, 1927 in LaGrange, the daughter of Rube and Esther Smith. She retired after working for 30 years as a switch board operator for Southern Bell. She was a faithful member of Gray Hill Baptist Church for many years. Wayner is survived by her sisters, Gwen (husband Artis) Brown of LaGrange, Barbara Ann Railey of Sharpsburg, Ga; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Knight; parents Rube and Esther Smith and her loving mother Eunice Smith, who raised her after her biological mother passed away; sisters, Geraldine Runyan, Mary Beth Garrison; brothers, Donald Smith and Joe Smith. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, LaGrange. Mrs. Gladys F. Marshall, 90, a resident of Valley went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Lanier Nursing Home in Valley. Funeral services will be at Johnson Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM EST with Revs. Steve Langley, Steve Campbell and S.T. Janney officiating. Burial will be in Warm Springs, GA at Mount Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her son, Roy Lee (Bobbie Ann) Marshall of Pine Mountain, GA; two daughters, Brenda (Dallas) Pearson of Greenville, GA; Carolyn (Stephen) Alford of Valley; six grandchildren, Regina Boatner, Michael Marshall, Ben Pearson, Chris Pearson, Natalie Bledsoe & Anna Wood; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, a number of precious nieces and nephews, and many "church children". She was the daughter of the late Lester and Rosie Lee Fields. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy Q. Marshall, one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Marshall was born in LaGrange, GA and was a member of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church. She loved children and was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and enjoyed serving others. Robertson, Michael Bernard  
Michael Bernard Robertson passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his home in LaGrange, Georgia. He was born October 8, 1966 to the late, Lee and Mildred Leslie Robertson in Meriwether County. Mike accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Fellowship Baptist Church, Greenville, Georgia. Later, he united with New Community Church, LaGrange, Georgia. He attended public school in Greenville, Georgia; where he graduated, Class of 1985. He was outstanding basketball, and football player. He was employed as a bus driver for Troup County School System. He served as a Trip Driver for LaGrange High, Troup High, and Callaway High. Mike had a great passion for fishing and frying fish. He was a member of Shawmut Lodge 165 of Lanett, Alabama for more than fifteen years. He was an active Khedive Temple #3, Mystic Shrine, Lanett, Alabama. Brother Mike served various offices within the organization including Tyler and Jr. Deacon in the Blue Lodge; and Grand Marshall, Oriental Guide, and 1st Ceremonial Master in the Khedive Temple. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Harper Robertson; three daughters, Caneashia Woody, Lanett, AL; Mikia (Dwight) Davis, Tamia Robertson, LaGrange, GA; three grandchildren; two extended children, Victor B. Williams, Jr. and Shaquila Williams; six extended grandchildren; six sisters, Janice (Jimmie Lee) Hadley, Linda (Maxie) Johnson, Mildred Robertson, Barbara Robertson, Vannessa (Horace) Terry, Frances Robertson; three brothers, Vincient Robertson, Melvin (Marina) Robertson, Charles Robertson; one aunt, Arvella Crawder ; his pops, Ernest McCnish; mother-in-law, Alice Harper; sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, godmother, Mrs. Betty Dallas; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 204 Fannin Street, LaGrange, Georgia. Rev. Dwight Hardaway will officiate. Watts, Hollis P.  
Mr. Hollis Pierce Watts, age 46 of Molena, Georgia, formerly of Franklin, Georgia passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Molena Nursing and Rehab Center. Mr. Watts was born on June 18, 1969, in LaGrange, Georgia to Hollis Jacob Watts and the late Catherine Whitlock Jordan. He was a Christian by faith. For most of his adult life he was self- employed in the construction field, but for several years he was employed by Papitan, Incorporated, also in the construction field. In his younger years he loved to fish and hunt. He was fascinated by Old Cars and loved tinkering on them. However feeling the wind blowing through his hair and the power he felt while driving his go-kart was probably his favorite of all his past times. He was loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his son, Hollis P. Watts, II (Kaylyn) of LaGrange, GA.; father, Hollis J. Watts of Franklin, GA.; two beloved grandchildren, Addison and Layten Watts of LaGrange, GA.; and three brothers, Bryan Watts of Franklin, GA., Kenneth Watts also of Franklin, GA., and Landon Melson (Valerie) of LaGrange, GA.; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 5, 2016, 3:00 p.m. from the Stutts Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, Georgia. The interment will follow in Meadoway Gardens in LaGrange Georgia. Batts, Agnes L.  
Agnes L. Batts, 101, of LaGrange, GA peacefully passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Florence Hand Nursing Home. Mrs. Batts was born October 12, 1914 in Clay County, AL to the late Wyatt W. Mitchum and Emily Nichols Mitchum. She was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and had been a resident of Amberwoods for 23 years. Mrs. Batts began her continuous employment with Callaway Mills in January 1944, and was a member of the 25 Year Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. "Jack" Batts; three sisters, one brother, one granddaughter, and two stepsons. Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Jean and her husband, Jack D. Buttrum; grandson, Kevin and his wife, Gail Buttrum; granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, Gary Lowery; six great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Shadowlawn Cemetery with Reverend Kevin Buttrum officiating. The family will gather at graveside from 10:30 AM service time. Mr. H. C. Brock, 92, of Hogansville, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at his home. Mr. Brock was born January 11, 1924, in Lindale, son of the late John Brock and Lois Logan Brock Williams. A veteran of service in the U. S. Army Air Forces during World War Two, he lived in Hogansville most of his life, retired as an electrician from Uniroyal, Inc. after more than 40 years of service, and was a member of Highland Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for over 55 years and had served as a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Brock loved his family and was an avid supporter of all their athletic activities for many years, and had recently attended a great-grandson's baseball game. Survivors include his son, Mark Brock of Hogansville; grandchildren, Shannon Brock and his wife Melanie of Hogansville, Erin Hanner and her husband Scotty of LaGrange; great-grandchildren, Devin Brock, Courtney Hanner, Brooklyn Brisky, Austin Hanner, Paisley Brock, Olivia Brock; sister, Helen Ramsey of Hogansville; brother, Felton Williams of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Rowe Brock. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, at Highland Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Thursday night at Claude A. Brown, Dorothy Wade  
Mrs. Dorothy Wade Brown, 84, of LaGrange passed away Tuesday, April 26, at Grady Hospital, Atlanta. She was born June 14, 1931 the loving daughter of Charlie and Myrtice Freeman Wade. She was united in marriage to Chester Lee Brown. Before retiring Dorothy work many years as a spinner for Milliken Textiles. Dorothy is survived by her husband Chester Lee Brown; son, Steven Brown; daughter, Cynthia (husband Mark) Geiger; Grandchildren, Haley Geiger, Brittany Gesselman, Christi Geiger, Jacob (wife Christina) Geiger; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Brown, Emmaleigh Brown, Mason Barker, Blayne Barker, Henry Geiger; sister, Joyce Furgerson and several nieces and nephews. A special acknowledgement from the family to Steven Brown, her son, who provided exceptional care for his mother. With his love and daily commitment, his mother was able to live her life with her spouse Chester, at their home with Steven as their primary care giver. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Myrtice Wade; sisters, Pauline Wade, Linda Brewster; brother, Horace Wade, and baby brother, Gary Wade; The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, LaGrange. Glover Childs passed away Monday at UAB. He was born April 8, 1949 to the late, Mr. Steve Childs and Mrs. Lee Ella Magby Childs. He was a member of Gathering Ministry. Glover retired from Lanier Memorial Hospital, Valley, Alabama.
