Mr. Joe D. Calhoun, 65, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Calhoun was born December 14, 1948 in Roanoke, Alabama, the son of the late Joe Dean Calhoun Sr. and Wynell Baker Calhoun. He was retired after 38 years of service from the West Georgia Health Systems where he had served as the Director of the Heart Clinic for the last several years. He was a member of Loyd Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and a member of the Men's Group, where he served as Treasurer. Mr. Calhoun loved to spend time with his grandsons and attending their baseball games. He also loved hunting and gardening and had been a member of the Heart of West Georgia Group.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Trudy Sikes Calhoun, son and daughter-in-law, Jason Todd and Sue Calhoun, two grandsons, Joseph Dean Calhoun and John Clenton Calhoun, all of LaGrange, sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Jeff Towler of Rock Mills, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Todd Towler.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday, at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, LaGrange. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm, Sunday August 10, 2014 at Loyd Presbyterian Church with Dr. Rix Threadgill officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Griffeth, Gary Knox, Jimmy Moat, Greg Poe, Howard Martin, Mark Hughes, Honorary Pallbearers will be, Dr. Bob Copeland, Dr. Thomas Gore, Charles Darden and Ron Beyer.

In Lieu of Flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Loyd Presbyterian Church, 550 Upper Glass Bridge Road, LaGrange, 30240, or to the Heart of West Georgia Group, 158 Wisteria Ridge Terrace, LaGrange, Ga. 30240, in memory of Mr. Joe Calhoun.
