Mr. Donald "Donnie" Ray Smith, 68, of LaGrange died Friday, August 22, 2014 at Hospice LaGrange.
Donnie was born October 21, 1945 in LaGrange, son of the late Rube Smith and Eunice White Smith. He was the owner and operator of Smith's Corner Store. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine and Mary, one brother, Joe, and his beloved dog, 8ball.
Survivors include his children, Melanie Smith (Dutch) Cummings, Jana Kaye Smith, Nichole (Brian) Gay, and Josh Thrower; six grandchildren, Allison Thrower, Kayelon Stafford, Trayton Gay, Will Thrower, Jon David Thrower, and Madaline Colson; sisters, Wayner Knight, Gwinell Brown, and Barbara Ann Railey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Smith's Corner Store with Reverend Max McCord officiating. The family is asking everyone to please dress casual.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the Troup County Humane Society in memory of Mr. Donald Ray Smith.
