Celebrating the life of Melody Rogers, 69, who passed away November 8, 2012. Melody was born Zella Louise Rogers on June 30, 1943, in Alhambra, CA, to the late Sybil Dean Baker and Richard Charles Rogers and was nicknamed "Dixie" after her father.
She graduated Escondido High School and was 1st runner-up in the Miss Escondido Pageant. After graduation she married William Lee Flack.
Melody always dreamed of having a family and devoted her life to being an amazing mother. Well loved and respected by those around her, she made adoring her back easy. Melody enjoyed knitting and looming and won numerous competitive awards for her crafts at the San Diego County Fair. She made jewelry and excelled in anything artistic. Melody was a gifted photographer and a self-published author back before it was easy. Another hobby was genealogy. She recently found direct descendent proof that her family fought for independence during the American Revolution.
Melody worked as a travel agent at Globetrotter Travel in San Marcos, CA, and also as the Office Manager at Four Square Church in Ramona, CA. She, YN1 Dixie Flack, served her country in the USNR at NAS Pt. Mugu, CA, attached to the VP-65 Squadron.
Melody loved God and passed along her faith to her family. She had a sign in her home that said, "You know what I need God, Thank you for answering my prayers." It was her faith and desire to serve others that touched everyone around her.
Melody is survived by her three daughters, three grand children, and three great-grandchildren.
