Bill Lewis passed away on August 9, 2013. He was born in Norway, KS, on August 22, 1929, and grew up in Fairbury, NE.
Bill was in the U.S. Army during the time leading up to the Korean War
. He spent his career working in the railroad industry until retirement, when he and his wife moved to San Diego.
Bill was dedicated to his community and served on several committees, including the Oaks North Architectural Board. He was a member of Chalice Unitarian Universalist Congregation. He loved his family, animals, especially his dog Buffy, trains, lawn bowling and Moose Tracks ice cream.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy; their children, Vicki Buick, Terre Lewis (Lynn Hageman), William M. Lewis, Victor (Cheryl) Nelson, Linda (Robert) Thompsen, Leslie Hallenberg, Steven Nelson and Scott (Valerie) Nelson; grandchildren, William J. Lewis, Barbara Lewis, Brandon (Angelina) Thompsen, Kristin and Lauren Thompsen, Nilkas and Britt Hallenberg, Thomas, and Benjamin and Marie Nelson; and great-grandchildren, JaeLyn Timms and Landon Thompsen.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the Oaks North Community Center at 12578 Oaks North Dr. in San Diego.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Bill to San Diego Spaniel Rescue or the Escondido Humane Society.
