Hal Kay St. Clair Obituary
Hal was born on October 11, 1925, in Los Angeles to Millard and Ruth McGrew St. Clair.
Hal enlisted in the U.S. Navy May 13, 1943, under the V-12 program. He completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering at University of California, Berkeley and was discharged from active duty as an Ensign on January 9, 1946.
He chose computer development as his career, working primarily for IBM. He was a member of the IBM team that developed the first hard drive at its Los Gatos laboratory and transferred to the Boca Raton, Florida, laboratory when IBM decided to develop personal computers.
After retirement, he moved to the Rancho Bernardo Community and volunteered his computer expertise with the Joslyn Senior Center, Neighborhood Watch and Continuing Education Center. He was active in the Scottish Clan Sinclair/St. Clair, Scottish Highland Games and Rancho Bernardo Social Club.
Hal married Valerie Creely on June 22, 1949. They had three children, Gregory, Russell and Elizabeth. Valerie passed away August 28, 1995. He married Bereniece Langham Neise on March 6, 1998.
Hal passed away September 10, 2012, quietly and comfortably in his home with his family.
His children and wife survive him.
