My father and George Feher were cousins. I met him once at a visit to his home in La Jolla. He sent me a group family photo before the changes in the 19`30´s. His work in science and photosynthesis and lifelong awards and achievements are a pleasure to read. My father was a chemist, too, with an imaginative mind. Remembering them both.

It has been about two years since his death, yet I continue to remember George at odd times during the day and, strangely, in dreams! He had a huge impact on the field of photosynthesis, and I treasure my moments discussing science with him ... his trademark was the long pause, which in my old age have come to learn is more useful than the quick response.

Even though we knew George's life was nearing an end, it was still a big shock hearing he died He provided so much to all of us who worked in his laboratory, everything from a livelihood to a logical and ordered way of looking at the world. It's a big loss now that he is gone. And in these times especially, his approach is such a breath of fresh air. I hope I can retain some of what he tried to teach us.

As a grad student at UCSD physics, my main relationship with George was as a tennis partner; I was fortunate to play doubles with him and others in the department. His relatively shaky technique was buttressed by a keen tactical awareness and a fierce but always friendly competitiveness. We also shared the pleasure of exchanging the occasional words in Hungarian. My warmest memory of George is of his remarks at the memorial to Bernd Matthias, where, with his voice choking, he recalled how Bernd had invigorated him after a near-fatal heart attack by playing poker: "Bernd said [to others] that he'd play and let me win: 'George will be so happy to win that he'll forget to die.'" George's life provides us all with an example of what courage, discipline, heart and enormous intellect can enable one to achieve.

Elsa and family. Simone loved George and thought highly of him all the years she worked with him. I know she would be very sad to hear of George's departure from this world.

My heart goes out to your family for your loss. There are no words to express our sadness when we lose a loved one in death. God knows how you feel and comforts us with his word found in John 6:40.

I really don't know what to say about Mr Feher except that he was a really brilliant man. He make me think about someone from the future. May the Almighty God of comfort be with his family, friends all who were touched by him. We look forward to meeting him in paradise. God love you.
