Chester S. Blackowicz Obituary
Blackowicz, Chester S. 89, of Waukegan, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Brentwood North Healthcare in Riverwoods, IL. He was born January 30, 1925 in North Chicago and was a lifelong area resident. Chester was a member of St. Anastasia Parish and the American Legion Homer Dahringer Post 281. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Chester is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dora (Dapkus) Blackowicz; sons, Charles Blackowicz, Steven (Mary Ann) Blackowicz, Joseph Blackowicz; grandchildren, Steven, Kyle, Kevin, Jennifer, Michelle, Mark, Matthew; sister-in-law, Jean Blackowicz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Vazquez; son, Stanley Blackowicz; parents, Stanley and Mary Blackowicz; and by his brothers and sisters. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2014 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan. Interment will be private at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to time of mass at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of THE MEMORIAL CHAPEL OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan.
