Kless "Dutch" Gyzen Obituary
Gyzen, Kless "Dutch" 88, of Waukegan passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Vista Medical Center East. He was born July 16, 1925 at Goodland, IN and had lived in this area for most of his life. He was a member of Wesley Free Methodist Church. He was a career army officer, serving his country for 24 years during both WW II and Korea, retiring in 1966 as a Lt. Col. After retirement he worked in Civil Service, as Chief, for the Federal Protective Service, retiring from that career in 1987. He was also an active golfer at Bonnie Brook Golf Course and organized many of the golf leagues there. He stayed active in his retirement years. Kless is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Christopher); sons, William R. (Cheryl) Gyzen of Green Bay, WI, Jeffrey H. (Haunani) Gyzen of Irvine, CA, Kless (Hilda) Gyzen, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Ronald J. Gyzen of Kenosha, WI and Timothy A. Gyzen of Kansas City, MO; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Wilhelmina (nee VanPlatz) Gyzen; brothers, Dick and Bill Gyzen; and sisters, Kathryn Gibour and Nell Heikkila. Memorial Service, with Military Honors, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Wesley Free Methodist Church, 3601 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan with Pastor George Schleif officiating. Arrangements are under the care of PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan, IL (847) 623-0495.
