Ms. Chaquasha Shawntey Avinger, age 36, resident of 375 NW Bascom Norris Drive, Lake City, Florida met her untimely death Friday, April 11, 2014. She was the daughter of Roosevelt Tolbert and May Alice Avinger. She attended the Public Schools of Columbia County and later she went on to the Job Corp. where she received her GED, a degree in Security and CNA training. She leaves to mourn her mother, May (King) Thompson, father Roosevelt (Mary Jane) Tolbert and Pastor Willie Lee Copeland. 3 beautiful children, Dalrius Givens, Dalrianna Givens and Cali Monae Lindsey. Sisters; Melanie Pinckney, Charlisha Edison, Shanitria Campbell, Jasamey Fuller, Sierra Caldwell, Valarie (Teashay) Everett, Quesa Tolbert, Surpethia Foley, Angelica Cooper and Pamela Denson. Brothers; Calvin Tolbert, Jimmy Baxter, Terrance Tolbert and Sir Charles Galloway. Grandparents; Louise (Alford) Brown, Mary Thompson and Katherine Tolbert (deceased). Aunts; Debra Avinger, Loretta Braithewaite, Marlenia Brown, Joyce McDougler, Betty Fulton and Audrey Robinson. Uncles; John (Shelisa) Ford, Michael Thompson, Eugene Middlebrooks, Charlie Avinger, Willie Witt and Johnny Foots. Special devoted friends and family; Taurus Reed, Dalvis Givens, Michael Jones, Alexander Rossin Sr., James White Jr., God Brother; Willie Jerngan Jr., Sanshea Green, Tonya Buie, Risa Horne and her daughters, Ms. Bell and her daughters, Shea, Tank and Tree, Tina Bryant, Renee Allen, Tasha Shade, Monique Kenoza, Nana Grenisha, Vonda, and Travis Shaw. Funeral services for Chaquasha Shawntey Avinger will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald V. Walters, Pastor Eulogy. Ms. Dorothy Willodean Daugherty Stewart Beckley, 92, of Lake City, passed away Monday April 21, 2014 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center Lake City after an extended illness. She was born on April 1, 1922 in Thomasville, Alabama to the late Julius L. and Lelia G. Daugherty. She is preceded in death by one son Ron Stewart, three sisters Betty Ann Faircloth, Nellie Timberlake, and Louise Hanson. She had made her home in Lake City after moving here from Jacksonville, FL; where she worked for the Duval County School System for 28 years; she was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, and the Eastern Star of District 5. She enjoyed yard working, working at the church library, and being a care giver and helping people. She is survived by her daughter Carol Dean Knight (Bill) of Jennings, FL; step-daughters Charlotte "Becky" Warren of Waverly, TN; Susie Sharp of Jacksonville, FL; and Joann Goodman of Seattle, WA, one daughter-in-law Lisa Stewart of Jacksonville, FL; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and one on the way. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday April 26, 2014 at Parkview Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Mike Tatem officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. (one hour prior to service time) at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery in Jacksonville, FL at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday following the service at church. Mr. Earl Edward Brown, 85 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at his home.  He was the youngest son to the late Thomas Mitchell Brown and Lallie Green Brown.  Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a member of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church.  Mr. Brown was a farmer throughout his life. He previously worked for Guerdon Mobile Homes and the Columbia County School Board having retired as the Director of Maintenance.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McGraw Brown: siblings, Claude Brown, Leroy Brown, Carl Brown, James Brown, Elmira Herndon and Evy Mae Brown; and step daughter, Patsy Crews. Survivors include his daughters, Earlene Brown (Marshall McNeill), Jacksonville, Darlene Brown (Greg Intemann), Gainesville, step daughters Sandy Reed (Kevin), Lake City and Cheryl Wilkin, Lake City; step son, Robert Norris, Lake City; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Lake City with Elder Herman Griffin officiating.  Interment will immediately follow at Salem Primitive Baptist Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salem Primitive Baptist Church at P.O. Mr. William (Bill) Matthew Glover II, also known as "Sonny", beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed from us on April 20, 2014 in Lake City, Florida. His life began in Jacksonville Florida, born in 1942 to O'Mell and Irene Glover. In 1960 he graduated from Robert E. Lee high school, and was drafted into the U.S.  Army where he served in Alpha Company  503rd Military Police Battalion in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Three years and many letters later, he married Sandra Osborne and continued his service until 1965 where he was discharged as a sergeant. In November of 1966 he began his career as a wildlife officer with the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission. Bill and family moved around the state with the commission to include Lake Placid, Mayo, Ft. Pierce, Okeechobee, and finally Lake City in 1981 where he was promoted to captain, before retiring in 2001. Since 1996, he has been renamed "Godidah" by his grandchildren. He had coached Little League Baseball, was an active writer in the Lake City Reporter, and was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship. He is survived by his wife Sandy, brother Robert  Glover (Jacksonville), sister Annette Campbell (Jacksonville), four sons: Matthew (Angela)of Lake City, Brian of Jacksonville , Luke (Lena) of Portland, OR, and Philip (Katie) of Freeport, FL and nine grandchildren: Lauren, Mia, Matthew, Hannah, Ava, Nathan, Jonas, Joel, and Eli. Services are on Saturday, April 26, 2014 with visitation at 10:00am and celebration of life at 11:00am, both at New Life Christian Fellowship, Lake City, FL. Mrs. Mary Francis Davis Hall, age 79, passed away April 16, 2014, in Lake City, Florida. She was a lifelong resident of Lake City, Florida. Mary Francis Davis was born in Cedar Key, Florida to Frank James and Mary Ingram Davis on February 19, 1935. Mary was the first of eleven children.   She married Donald Hall on May 14, 1954. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother to her family. She was a Christian, and a good friend to many who knew her.   She was the co-owner and operator of Hall's Pump and Well and Carolyn Heights Water Company of Lake City since 1969; and belonged to many different organizations.   Mary is survived by her husband: Donald Hall; seven children: Donna Jo (Ben) Killian, Michael (Mary) Hall, Annette (Mark) Black, Craig Hall (Margo), Debra Jean (Lester) Dubose, Douglas Hall (Shelia) and Larry (Shelia) Hall; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.   Surviving siblings are Lenora (John Robert (Deceased)) Geiger, Russell (Lynnda) Davis, Sally Ann Bishop, Noah (Janet) Davis, Judy (Ronald (Deceased)) Overstreet, Cindy (Dave) Whalen, Frank (Gloria) Davis and Rocky (Valerie) Davis.   She is preceded in death by her parent: Frank and Mary Davis; sisters: Martha Jewell and Kathy Davis Waters; and her daughter-in-law: Mae (Chubby) Hall.   Funeral Services for Mrs. Hall will be conducted on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 3 P.M. in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Friday evening April 18, 2014 at the Funeral Home.
