Clayton D. Rowland

Mr. Clayton D. Rowland, 79, of Lake City passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 following an extended illness. Mr. Rowland was born in Hazelhurst, Georgia, but had lived in the Lake City Area for the past four years after moving here from Savannah, Georgia. Mr. Rowland worked for the Union Bag Corporation for 42 years before retiring. In his spare time Mr. Rowland enjoyed gardening and fishing. Mr. Rowland was of the Baptist faith, and was preceded in death by his parents Teenben and Hazel Dixon Rowland, his brother Robert Dewey Rowland, and his sisters Ola Mae Rowland Creamer and Hazel Lois Carroll.
Mr. Rowland is survived by his wife of 61 years Yanema Rowland, a son Gary Rowland (Patricia) of Bloomingdale, Georgia, three daughters Sharon Blackmon (Tommy Hudson) of Lake City, Barbara Richardson (Randall) of Waynesboro, Georgia, Melissa Hagaman (George) of Lenoir, North Carolina, and a sister Opal Coleman of Griffin, Georgia. Five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Rowland will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Danny Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery here in Lake City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday evening.
