Mr. Eugene S. "Gene"
Anderson, 85, of Lake City passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. A native of Lake Wales, Florida, Mr. Anderson had lived in Lake City since 1966 having moved here from Ft. Meade, Fl to work for Occidental Corporation in White Springs. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II in the South Pacific serving as a Submarine Torpedo Man. After his service in the Navy, he attended and then graduated from the University of Florida in 1949 with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. Mr. Anderson worked in the Phosphate Mining Industry and retired from Occidental Corporation in 1980. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, EW and Charlie Anderson.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Frances R. Anderson, Lake City, two sons, Kenneth E. "Ken" Anderson (Shannon), Encinitas, CA and Ronald C. "Ron" Anderson (Louise), Tampa, one sister, Louise Stockton, Plant City, Fl and two granddaughters, Meredith Anderson, Los Angeles, CA and Apryl Anderson, Tampa, Fl.
A visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the funeral home. Private interment services will be on Friday at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The Anderson Family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at the VA Medical Center Hospice Facility for their services and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lake City VA Voluntary Services "Hospice Donation" at the VA Medical Center, 619 S. Marion Ave., Lake City, Fl 32025. Arrangements are under the direction of GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 SW Main Blvd., Lake City.
