Mrs. Florie Bell Fleming Grigger, resident of Lake City, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Haven Hospice. She was surrounded by many of her loved ones. Mrs. Grigger, 99 years young was born in Suwannee County, the 8th child born to the late Frank and Florence Davis Fleming. She was preceded in death by 11 of her siblings. She grew up in Columbia County and was married in 1932 to the late Johnny Grigger, Sr. They remained married until his demise in 1974. To this union 8 children were born, four preceded her in death; Margie, King Solomon, Randy and Sylvester Grigger. She was always very soft spoken, warm and caring. She enjoyed visiting family and friends and would always walk out as quietly as she entered. Her life was filled with love for her family and it was her love that kept them together. And though she spoke softly, everyone knew that when she said something or made a comment, she meant every word she said. She wore many titles in her long life, and at the last reunion, she was named the "matriarch" of the Fleming family. She joined Philadelphia Baptist Church at an early age and her membership remained there. She attended regularly until her health failed. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
