Mr. (Coach) Charles Edward Mobley was born August 13, 1937, to the late Fletcher Mobley, Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Mobley. He passed away August 1, 2018, at James A. Haley VA Medical Center, Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Richardson High School, Lake City, Florida with the class of 1956. He served his country with the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education with a concentration in Mathematics, from his Alma Mata, Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach, FL. Charles dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized at a young age of 12 years old in the Church of Christ on North Carolina Street, which is now known as the Northside Church of Christ. Coach Mobley retired from the Columbia County School System in June 2003, after 39 years of public service, teaching youth, 9th through 12th grade at Richardson and Columbia High Schools. He was also very involved in school sports as the Football Coach, Baseball Coach, and Softball Coach. Coach Mobley was an educator who cared. He is preceded in death by his wife Erma Jean Calhoun Mobley; sisters, Juanita Mobley Davis and Orelois Mobley McCray; brother, Fletcher Mobley, Jr.; and daughter, Cheryl Renee Mobley.
Coach or "Boo-Boo" Mobley will be greatly missed by his children, Darin L. Mobley, and Tracy L. Mobley; mother-in-law, Mrs. Lennie Calhoun; grandchildren, Tyler S. Mobley, Darian L. Mobley and Cai'Liana N. Mobley; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Aubrey, Alarua; sister-in-law, Debora Hall; brothers-n-law, Jerome Calhoun and Freddie Calhoun; hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for "Coach" Charles E. Mobley will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Northside Church of Christ, 378 NW Gibson Lane, Lake City, FL, Brother Philip Mobley, Minister.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at Northside Church of Christ.
