Edwin Allen Rose, Jr., age 80, died at home Tuesday, March 12, after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Bowling Green, Florida, on November 24, 1932, to Edwin A. Rose, Sr. and Willie Perry Rose. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, he graduated from Auburn University and served in the Army during the Korean War.
He and his family moved to Lake City in 1962. Mr. Rose was owner and operator of North Florida Concrete in Lake City for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Bobbie Humphreys, of Birmingham, Alabama.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis Rose; a son, Richard Rose; a daughter, Kathy Hardee (Frank Kersey); three grandchildren, Teresa Pierce (Tim), Heath Hardee, and Hunter Rose; and seven great-grandchildren, all of Lake City.  His is also survived by a sister, Ann Rose, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday March 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Pastor Elmer Crews and Pastor John Lane officiating. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home, 458 S.
