Emerson Eber Blodgett, 81, of Lake City passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Haven Hospice House. He was born in Pomfret, New York on April 5, 1937 to the late Maurice Dean and Margaret Butcher Blodgett. Mr. Blodgett was a dedicated husband, father and grandpa. Mr. Blodgett loved traveling with family, working on projects, construction, racing and auto mechanics. He obtained his Bachelors, Masters and EdS degrees from Florida State University and University of Florida. Mr. Blodgett served in the United States Army from 1960-1962. He loved racing and was the winner of the 1966 Daytona 24 hour B class in an Alfa Romeo. He was an SCCA champ in B Class with a 1966 Lotus and A class champ in 1967. Mr. Blodgett was a retired Instructor from Lake City Community College, former real estate agent and homebuilder.
Survivors include his two sons and daughters in law: Emerson Dean Blodgett and Lisa Lord Blodgett of Huntsville, Alabama. Edward Wesley Blodgett and Julie Brasher Blodgett of Valdosta. Four grandchildren: Emily Blodgett, Erica Blodgett, Ashley Blodgett, Coleman Pollock. Many nieces and nephews. Mr. Blodgett was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Virginia Blodgett; a sister, Phyllis Blodgett Keith and brother in law Charlie Keither, Sister Phrances Blodgett Pease and brother in law Gene Pease.
A private viewing for the family will be held at Dees-Parrish Funeral Home in Lake City, Florida. Mr. Blodgett will be buried in the Bushnell National Cemetery.
