Mr. Jerry "Coot " Stinson born April 29, 1939 in Geneva Ala., Passed away due to an extended illness. A graduate of Geneva High Class of 57 and extended his education with a Masters Degree in English Literature from Troy State University. Jerry worked in education as a high school English teacher and also was part of the football team coaching staff of Geneva, Ala. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy, in Rome Italy. An accomplished musical writer, he enjoyed country music. The original "Gator Chomp" was written by him, and is still loved by all the Gator fans in this area. An avid Alabama fan, who enjoyed SEC football and Nascar racing, and a huge Tony Stewart fan. Jerry was also affiliated with Tom and Jerry's which he worked along side his brother Tom Stinson.

He is proceeded in death by one daughter, Laira and one son, Barry and survived by two daughters Jerry Lee and Patricia, and many grandchildren, four siblings EJ. Stinson, Geneva Ala., Betty Baker, Tom Stinson, and Shelia Stinson all of Lake City, Fl and many nieces and nephews. A private memorial will be held at a later date in Geneva Alabama.
