Joe Kaird Mast, 84, of Palatka, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. A native of Starke, Joe returned to Palatka in 1974 coming from Brooksville. He served in the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division, U.S. Army, in occupied Japan during World War II. Joe retired as a supervisor with BellSouth He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where he was active with the United Methodist Men.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Reese Mast, his parents, Paul and Ada Mast, brothers, Henry Mast, Gene Mast, Robert Mast and sisters, Alice Clarkson, Mary Hillman and Joyce Burgess.
He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Ethel Donaldson Mast, brothers, Jim Mast (Shirley) and James Paul Mast (Janet), children, April Gail Saucerman (Johnny), Henry "Hank" Mast (Renee), Theresa Mast, Gene Mast and by marriage Vann Streety, Jr. (Annie), Catherine Streety Stratton (Steve), Ralph T. Streety, 8 Grandchildren and by marriage 7, 21 nieces and nephews and special among them are Vivian Bailey, Ruthie Mast (deceased) and Abby Hopke.
Memorial services will be Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Don Hanna officiating. Graveside services with Military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery.
