Lewis McCarty Obituary

Lewis Aubrey McCarty, 86 of St. Mary's, Georgia, passed away April 21, 2013 at the Senior Care Center in St Mary's. He was born November 27, 1926 in Ideal, GA to the late Elijah Lewis McCarty and Ruby Mae Harden McCarty. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather & great grandfather and was of the Methodist Faith. He is survived by three children Karen (Randy) Tracy, Woodbine, GA., David (Kathy) McCarty, Englewood, FL., and Daniel McCarty, Atlanta, GA.; One brother Marion McCarty, Thomaston, GA.: Four grandchildren: Eric Petrena, Fort White, FL., Brian Petrena, Las Vegas, NV., Angela Knox, Bell, FL., and Heather McCarty, Orlando, FL.; Two great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
Lewis had many friends and never met a stranger. Born in Ideal, GA the son of a grocery store owner he would reminisce about his baseball playing, hot rod running, and girl chasing days. Drafted into the Army he served two tours of duty in World War II. Upon completion of his military service he returned to Thomaston, GA. However after seeing Europe he left the small community for Miami, FL. Ironically he got a job with his uncle in a grocery store. He decided he could have stayed in Georgia and worked at a grocery store so he changed occupations and became employed with Florida Power & Light serving 41 years before retiring and moving to Lake City, FL.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts. A grave side service was held in Thomaston, GA, April 26, 2013 at the Southview Cemetery.
