Mary Ann Aaron Gervin was born May 11, 1937 to Otis "Cap" Aaron and Janie Aaron. She was also raised by her step-mother Mary Aaron. She was a member of Mount Tabor A.M.E Church in Lake City, Florida, where she was born again and baptized September 1952. She is a graduate of Richardson High School in Lake City, Florida.

Mary Ann moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and joined Mount Hermon A.M.E. Church. She faithfully served in numerous capacities including the choir, Education Department, Trustee Board, and Steward Board. Mary Ann also volunteered monthly to serve the Cancer Society and the indigent.
While working during the day and attending school at night, Mary Ann earned a certification as a Master Barber at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida. She also worked as an interior decorator for several residences, churches and a hospital.
In 1963, Mary Ann and Eddie Will Gervin were married. From this union two sons were born, Otis Karl Gervin in 1964 and Marion Edward Gervin in 1967. Soon after the birth of their children, Mary Ann earned a degree in nursing at Miami Dade College. She began her career as a nurse in the emergency room of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. During her 35 year career as a nurse, Mary Ann worked in emergency, ambulance response, neonatal, intensive care, private care and in numerous other capacities at various health care facilities throughout South Florida.
Mary Ann is survived by her sons Otis Gervin (Miami Gardens, Florida), Marion Gervin (Atlanta, Georgia), her grandchildren Melody Gervin, Mone`t Gervin, Miles Gervin, and Marc Gervin, her sisters Ann Reed (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), Betty Williams (Lake City, Florida), Ethel Adusei-Poka (New York, New York), Viola Comerford (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), Patricia Brown (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), her brothers Theodore Aaron and wife Elouise (Lake City, Florida), Alonzo Aaron (Elizabeth, Kentucky), and John Aaron and his wife Gayle (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, classmates and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Ann Gervin, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Mt. Tabor A.M.E. Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
