Mrs. Mary Frances Laws, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 as a result of a tragic car accident. Mary was born on July 31, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Claude and Addie Trannon. Mary moved to Detroit, Michigan at the age of 14. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit and later gave birth to her only child, Beverly. In 1969, she moved to East Palo Alto, California where she met and married her loving husband of 38 years, Walter Laws. In 1983 Walter and Mary moved to Lake City, Florida. She was employed as a Supervisor at the Lake City Reporter for many years. She was a faithful member of the New Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church where she was affectionately known as "Mother Laws". She was a long time dedicated member of the Adult Choir and enjoyed singing and serving as a Mother of the church. Mrs. Laws loved to dress nice and took tremendous pride in her and her husband's appearance. She will be remembered for her style, sincerity and the love she had for her family, friends and all who knew her. Mary was spunky, soft spoken, a great conversationalist and an even better listener. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Phillip and Eugene Trannon.
Left to cherish her precious memories: devoted husband, Walter Laws; loving daughter, Beverly Smith; step-daughter, Karen Laws, all of Lake City, FL; sisters, Sarah Frazier, Margaret Woods, Detroit MI; granddaughter, Danielle Renfro; great- granddaughter, My'kerria Johnson; great-grandson, Mickel Johnson, Jr., all of Lake City, FL; grandson, Gregory Smith, great-granddaughter, O'Shawna Smith; great-grandson, Gregory Smith, Jr., all of Sacramento, CA; best friend, Lillie Mae Wilds; hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
