Robert L. Timmons, Jr. , heard his Master's voice, answered the call and transitioned into eternal rest, June 11, 2013 at Homestead Hospital in Homestead, Florida. Robert was born August 5, 1943 to Robert L. Timmons, Sr. and Dorothy L. Timmons in Columbia County, Florida. Mrs. Timmons precedes him in death. He was educated in the public schools of Columbia County, graduating from Richardson High School with the Class of 1961. He joined the United States Navy and served until 1968. Robert met and married Hattie M. Waller in 1966. To this union four children were born. He enjoyed spending time with his children, especially his grandchildren. Robert was very dedicated in helping with, and taking care of elderly people. He was a very dedicated and faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Rev. J.C. Wise. Others preceding him in death, grandfather, Ray Forshee; and one son, Marvin Timmons.
Those left to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted friend, Annie Francis Robinson; daughter, Dorothy (Rev. Pierce Ewing); four sons, Christopher (Gwendolyn), Robert III (Angela), Derrick (Sharon) and Keith Timmons; one stepdaughter, Monica (Todd) Sampson; eight brothers, Vincent (Lisa), Handy (Cloretha), George (Sharon), Tommy (Leonara), Morris, Arthur (Nedra), Ronald, Nathaniel (Selena) Rentz; six sisters, Leatha (Bishop C. Kenneth Troupe), Mary (Ed) Henry, Betty, Dorothy (Ennis) Harris, Pinky and Denise Mayo; seven granddaughters, Dejsa, Ashleigh, Brandie, Trinity, Quanteisa, Denia, Derecia; seven grandsons, Devon, Willie, Milton, Christopher, Todd, Zachary, Robert IV; two great grandchildren, Dominique and Zamiracle; uncles and aunts, Catherine Pierce, Amos (Clara), Edward (Annette), Aaron (Minnie), Vasco (Jeanette), Mabel Parrish; hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Robert L. Timmons, Jr. will he held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at New Day Spring Missionary Baptist Church. 1321 NW Long Street. Lake City, FL.
The will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, in the chapel at Combs.
