I met Bernard in school at CHS in 1979-1980. We was in ROTC together my junior and senior year. He was a great person always smiling and willing to listen to what you had to say. He would help out where ever help was needed. Bernard you will truly be missed, and may the the Lord continue to bless and enrich the Carter and Broom families. I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. Mayo family, your loss is heaven's gain. On behalf of Ollie's family, Tiny was just like one of our nephews because he was always around our gatherings. He was a very nice and respectable young man. Evelyn and Earl you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Bernard when I came to Lake City. He was a joy to be around, and love people. My memories of him will be of great joy. Rest my friend.

Bernard was a kind man. He went out of his way to chat with you & see how your day was. I worked in his insurance office & met him in 2008. He was in a bad accident a yr ago yet after he was well enough to get out & about but still not fully back 100% I saw him help a person with a disabled vehicle while many other abled body people walked right past. He will be missed. Kind people are too few & far between ...RIP Mr. Mayo
