Ms. Ruby Yvette Simpson transitioned from this life March 8, 2013. She was born August 13, 1943 in Lake City, Florida to the late Elijah Simpson and Dorothy Taylor Simpson. Yvette received her elementary education at Richardson Elementary School in Lake City. She later attended Boyland Haven (a private United Methodist School) in Jacksonville, Florida. Yvette graduated from Allen High Boarding School in Ashville, NC, (a boarding school created for African American girls by the Methodist Episcopal Church). After high school, she went on to receive dual degrees in both Russian and German from Ohio State University. Church affiliations include, Gordon Road United Methodist Church and later Cascade United Methodist serving faithfully until her passing. She was an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Cherishing memories: loving and devoted mother, Dorothy T. Simpson; adopted brother, Minister Narvel Kelly (Betty); aunt, Gwendolyn Bullard; cousins, Barbara Martin, Elaine Simpson, David Simpson (Marva) and Lillie Stephens (Edward); other relatives, loyal friends and sorority sisters. Funeral services for Yvette were held in Atlanta, Georgia.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Garden of Rest Cemetery. Lake City, FL.
