Hazel Estelle Lyons, 79, of Mayo, passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at Shands Live Oak following a brief illness. Mrs. Lyons was born June 1, 1934 in Fort Payne, AL, to Ira and Leona (Barnett) Wills. She was preceded in death by her father, Ivey Ira Wills, her mother Lily Leona Goodman, and her husband, James Nolan Lyons in 1971.

Mrs. Lyons was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and going out with friends.
Mrs. Lyons is survived by, her son, Ricky Nolan Lyons, and wife Louisa, her daughter, Jenene Estelle Lyons-Starling, and husband Guy, all of Mayo, 1 brother, Wayne Wills, of Rainsville, AL, 2 sisters, Elaine Goodman, of Fort Payne, AL, and O'neal Wimberley, of Mayo, 4 grandchildren, Chad and Tori Lyons, and Justin and Evan Starling, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the sanctuary of Mayo Baptist Church with Bro. Glenn Luttrell officiating and Bro. Bill Terrell and Bro. Kenny Sullivan assisting. Interment will follow in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 also at Mayo Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Riverside Baptist Church Building Fund. All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
