A Celebration of Life for lifelong Prowers County resident, Merlin Rife will be held at 10 a.m. Tue. April 2, 2013 at the Wiley Community Church with Pastor Mike Schneider officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in the Veteran's Section.
Merlin was born on April 30, 1940 at Prowers County to Maurice Livingood and Vivian Faye (Barnard) Rife and passed away on March 28, 2013 at his home in Lamar with his family by his side at the age of 72.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Margaret Nell Moore, Dick Rife, Bea Mae Scranton and Frank Rife.
Merlin is survived by his wife; Jackie Rife of the family home in Lamar, children; Fred (Jennifer) Rife of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ed (Julie) Rife of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Merlinda Rife Morrow of Granada. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Michaela, Laura, Lindsey, Leah, Amanda, Carrie and Lisa, great-granddaughter; Emmalin, brother; J.B. Rife of Lamar, sister-in-law; Anna Rife of Lubbock, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office. Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family. For current information and online condolences please visit our Web site at www.peacockfuneralhome.com.
