Sandra Kurtz Obituary

1950-2015
Sandra K. Kurtz, 64-years old, died in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 18, 2015, at her home, surrounded by family. Sandy had a strong will to live, beating breast cancer not once, but twice. She took on a valiant fight against the breast cancer for a third and final time. Yet even throughout her struggles of cancer, she never let go of her strongest passion of being a mother, grandmother and a great friend. She is known for her generosity, kindness, unwavering faith in God, and selflessness. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. This was most evident through her fostering over 70 children, adopting 4 children, raising 5 children and always wanting to be present in the lives of her 17 grandchildren.

Sandy was born on July 26, 1950 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Everett "John" and Miltilda "Tillie" (Kudron) Brehm.

Sandy is preceded in death by her father John Brehm, infant daughter Brianna Kurtz, infant son Scott Michael Kurtz, and step daughter Jerri Brown.

She is survived by her husband Dennis, of 40 years, children: Kyle (Katie) Kurtz, Scott (Angela) Kurtz, Jaime (Brandon) Marshall, Brittney Kurtz and Josh Kurtz. Sandy is also survived by her mother Tillie Brehm, her step children: Barb (Bob) Krug, Terri Altman and Holli (Brian) Berg, her siblings: John (JoAnn) Brehm, Jerry Brehm, Nancy Davis, Jeanne (Randy) Hair, Sue (Joel) Simpson, Terry Brehm, and Mike (Lisa) Brehm, 17 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

A Service of Celebration will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1 Memorial Drive, Lamar, CO with Vicar Jason Cody officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Per Sandy's request, there will be no public viewing.
