Paul Eugene “Gene” Segers


1928 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
A celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident, Paul Eugene Segers, affectionately known to his family and friends as Gene, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sat., March 22, 2014 at the Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Kurt England officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in the Veteran's Section.
Visitation for Gene will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Fri., March 21, 2014 and from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Sat., March 22, 2014 at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Gene was born on March 24, 1928 at Englewood, Kan. to James Melvin and Lillie Mae (Divine) Segers and passed away on March 17, 2014 at Memorial Health Systems in Colorado Springs, Colo. at the age of 85.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son; Olen Segers, granddaughter; Shawna Marie Segers, great-granddaughter; Phoebe Segers and his brothers; James Marion, Melvin Leroy, and Francis Gordon.
Gene is survived by his wife; Delphine Segers of the family home in Lamar, children; Darrel Gordon (Terry) Segers of Grand Junction, Dave (Diana) Segers of Lamar, Kaylene (Brad) Pierce of Hillrose, Colo. and Darlene (Chuck) Laurent of Laconia, N.H. He is also survived by his twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, sisters; Louise (Leonard D.) Austin of Lamar and Maxine (Jerry) Beard of Sulphur, Okla. as well as numerouus nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lamar Missionary Baptist Church either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
