Funeral services for long time Sterling Kan. resident Jennie Jo Newby were held at 2 p.m. Wed. March 6, 2013 at the United Presbyterian Church in Sterling Kan. with Reverends Seth Svaty, Kendal Connor, and Marvin Ewertt officiating.

A private family inurnment at Sterling Community Cemetery will take place at a later date. Visitation for Jennie was held from 2 to 7 p.m. Tue. March 5 with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Birzer Funeral Home in Sterling, Kan.
Jennie was born May 7, 1918 at Bristol, Colo. to Benjamin T. and Beda E. Bogue White. She departed this life on Thu. Feb. 28, 2013 at her home in Sterling Kan.
Jennie was a graduate of Granada High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Sterling College in 1966 and a Master degree from Emporia State University. She worked as a media specialist and a teacher at Nickerson Elementary School along with being a wife and a mother. She married Gerald C. "Jerry" Newby on July 4, 1941 in Garden City, Kan.
Jennie is preceded in death by her husband Gerald and half brothers Ward Fagin and Briggs White.
She is survived by: daughter, Jerene Stadalman, St. John; son, Ben Newby, Sterling; grandson, Jason Stadalman, and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jayden Stadelman. Also by sisters Betty E. Watters, Odessa, Washington and Margaret I. Oden, Kansas City, Kan.
