Memorial services for Dorothy Hanks will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., Feb. 8, 2014 at the Bristol United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Leathers officiating. |
Inurnment will follow the services at the Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, Colo.
Dorothy Jean Hanks affectionately known as "Dot" was born April 23, 1930 in Bristol, Colo. to Grant and Evelyn (Schwisow) Hanks. She began school in Bristol and after graduating from the 8th grade, she attended Granada where she graduated in 1948. She worked in Lamar for a few years.
Dorothy married Ernie Moore on Nov. 24, 1950. Their son, Bryan Herbert Moore was born Dec. 17, 1951 and their second son, Bradley Curl Moore was born August 18, 1956.
Not long after that they moved to Boise, Idaho. On Oct. 1, 1959 Cliffton Craig was born then on March 1, 1971 Maureen Jean was born. Dorothy has one granddaughter, Lindsey Shaffer that she loved very much.
Ernie died Dec. 16, 1982. Dorothy then was married to Bob Sterling for a short time. Dorothy loved her family dearly. She was a very loving person, never wanting to cause anyone any trouble.
She worked at Flying J Restaurant and she was a favorite waitress for many years. Dorothy entered the hospital on Jan. 5, 2014 and passed away on Jan. 8, 2014.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernie; parents, Grant and Evelyn Hanks; and sister, Donna Cribari.
She is survived by her children, Bryan Moore of Seattle, Wash., Bradley Moore, Cliffton Moore, and Maureen all of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter, Lindsey of Boise, Idaho; sister, Myrna McGee and husband, Bub and family of Holly, Colo., and brother, Grant Hanks and family of Colorado Springs, Colo.; many other relatives and a host of friends.
