Elizabeth Emilie Bateman

Elizabeth Emilie Bateman passed away Sept. 11, 2013 in Albuquerque after a long struggle with mental illness. She was 35-years-old. Elizabeth is a Los Alamos native and best remembered as a loving daughter, sister and friend. She will be missed by her father Alfred Bateman; brothers Andrew Bateman (and wife, Lindsay); Jef Bateman (and wife, Sheryl); and three nieces: Lydia, Amelia and Josephine. Elizabeth is also remembered as a loving and devoted friend to many.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her mother Judith Carolyn Bateman. Elizabeth was born in Los Alamos on May 31, 1978. She graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1996, from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas in 2000 (bachelor's) and from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas in 2007 (master's).
Elizabeth was employed as an elementary school teacher in Fort Worth, Texas in 2006-2007.
Elizabeth was an active member of Youth Working for Youth and Clowns for Christ during high school and a member of the T. I. P. women's social club at McMurry University. Elizabeth enjoyed writing and art, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her friends.
She will be best remembered as a fun-loving and creative daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to those who loved and cared for her. She left us too soon.
For those with fond memories of Elizabeth, there will be an informal prayer and fellowship gathering at 10 a.m. Sept. 27 at White Rock United Methodist Church (580 Meadow Lane).
