Jan Sinclair

Longtime Los Alamos resident Jan Sinclair passed away Jan. 4, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents Enoch and Pat Nelson; and siblings Ruth Schleh, Nancy Roberts, and Wesley Nelson. Jan is survived by her husband Ken Sinclair of Los Alamos; daughters Julie Sinclair of Lansing, Mich. and Peggy Sinclair-Morris of Richmond, Va.; son-in-law Allen Morris; grandchildren Rheanna, Lydia, and Quinlan Morris all of Richmond, Va.; and sister-in-law and husband Emma Jean and Charles Mader of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Jan was born in Ogden, Utah, and spent most of her childhood in Fort Collins, Colo. She attended college in Greeley, Colo., and then came to Los Alamos in the late 1950s to be a kindergarten teacher. She then met Ken Sinclair and was married 52 years. She also worked for many years at the Los Alamos Public Library. Jan had an adventurous spirit and traveled to fifty countries with her husband Ken. She loved visiting with friends, reading, playing bridge, and watching Downton Abbey.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2013 at the United Church of Los Alamos. A guest book is available at DeVargas Funeral Home: devargasfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Albuquerque Rescue Mission (abqrescue.org) or the Nature Conservancy (nature.org).
