Alice H Salmi, 86, of Tigard, OR, died peacefully in her sleep on March 8, 2013. Alice's remains will be buried July 12, Friday at 2:00 PM at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos NM. Alice was born to Augustine and Hjalmar Hellsten in Detroit, MI on August 10, 1926. She graduated from Wayne University, with an Education BA in 1949. In 1949 she married Ernest "Ernie" Salmi, also of Detroit MI. In 1950 Alice and Ernie moved to Los Alamos, NM. Alice lived and raised a family in Los Alamos for the next 33 years. In 1963 Alice and family lived in Italy. In the 80s Alice worked at Q-dot Corporation of Los Alamos. In 1988 Alice moved to Tigard, OR. Alice was a gentle, loving soul. She had a great sense of humor which she kept to the end. Alice enjoyed gardening, cooking and politics. Alice's most important contributions' were to family and friends. She will be dearly missed. Alice was predeceased by her mother, Augustine Hellsten, her father Hjalmar Hellsten, her sister Marguerite Hellsten, and her husband Ernest Salmi. Alice is survived by her children, Nadine Lutes (David) of Tigard OR; Bill Salmi (Allyson) of St Louis MO; Doug Salmi (Rona) of Albuquerque NM: and Karen Salmi (Charlie) of Tucson AZ. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Brian Lutes, Adam Lutes, Michael Salmi, and Laura Salmi, and 3 great-grandchildren Annika Lutes, Jocelyn Lutes, and David Michael Lutes.
