Raphael Alonzo (Lonny) Montano, 90, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away June 30, 2013. He was preceded in death by his son Lonny Montano; mother Eufemia Montano; brothers Robert Luke and Augustine Montano; and sister Celina Vigil. Mr. Montano was a WWII veteran with the U.S. Army serving under Gen. Patton, with recipient of the Bronze Star and numerous other military awards. He retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory after more than 25 years of service. He owned and operated Tana's kitchen in Espanola, Los Alamos and Albuquerque, along with his wife. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Montano is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Montano; children Dolores La Flamme and husband Ed Frances Wood of Los Alamos; and Clara Montano-Smith and husband Jim of Elephant Butte; grandchildren Tana Lee and husband Michael of Georgia; Tuhy Mills, Cisco Wood, Lonny Wood and Antonio Wood all of Los Alamos; and Damian Montano of Virginia; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. July 10, 2013 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Graveside service to follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
