Dorothy was born July 28,1923 in
San Francisco.
Dorothy Foss died peacefully on February 16, at 6:05pm, at the age of 94. She is survived by her brother in San Francisco Ernst Reise and her children: Barbara Foote (Del), Bonny, Lawrence (Leslie), Deborah Pierce (Steve), Louisa Gilani, Erna, and Bertie Sorenson (Danny): her 15 grandchildren; and her 14 great-grandchildren. Her newest great-grandchild, Georgia, followed her to heaven at 6:21pm that same day.
Dorothy was a lover of literature, music, art, and poetry. She laughed heartily at jokes and danced freely to music. She was an amateur painter, played the piano, and would sing "As time goes by" when requested. She once was found listening with joy to 2-Pac when introduced to his music by her grandson. She was a free spirit. She loved babies and chocolates. She was often unable to communicate verbally in her final years (except in singing) living at a nursing home, but the sight of a baby or small child would brighten her eyes and she would smile and laugh. Vanilla milkshakes would make her eyes sparkle with delight.
Dorothy was intensely private. She did not talk about the traumatic 10 years she survived with an abusive spouse or about her losses. She was not a complainer but generous and self-forgetful. In addition, she was humble, grateful, cheerful, and a ready listener. She loved Jesus and it is a comfort to know that she is with Him and now at rest.
Please join the Foss, Tietjen, Sheppard, and Fleming, families in town to celebrate her life at her Funeral. Thursday February 22 at 11:OO Crossroads Bible Church.
