Eileen W. Allen passed away June 21 in Albuquerque NM at 94 years of age. Eileen was born in Golden, CO in 1918 to Jacob and Margaret Wagenbach. She graduated from Golden High School in 1935 and after a brief time at college, went to work first in Golden, then in Washington, DC. Eileen married Robert Allen in 1941 and lived in New Jersey throughout the war years where Robert held a war-related job. They returned to Colorado in 1946 and settled near family in Golden. After her children were older, Eileen served for many years as a volunteer with the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Margaret and Jacob, and her two older brothers, William and George. She is survived by her children Michael Allen of Westcliffe, CO, and Mary Jefferis of Albuquerque, NM; her grandchildren, Peter Jefferis of Albuquerque and granddaughter Lt Emily Jefferis, currently serving in the Air Force in Florida; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Wagenbach; her nephew Jim Wagenbach; and her niece Margo Fasso.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eileen Allen may be made to the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra (303-278-4237). Arrangements by the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary (mtolivetdenver.org). Services will be June 29, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at the Mt Olivet chapel.
