Judy Brownell, 71, died Sept. 24, 2013 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. She was born Jan. 23, 1942 in Topeka, the daughter of William and Mildred Petty Hamilton.

She was a graduate of Topeka High School, a member of Delta Gamma sorority at Washburn University, Topeka and had been attending Emanuel Lutheran Church. Judy was a passionate and accomplished quilter and was a past president of the quilt guilds of both Hutchinson and Los Alamos, where she lived for the past 23 years, before moving back to Hutchinson.
On Jan. 31, 1964, she married Steve Brownell in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include their children and spouses: Stephanie and Phil Anderson, Hutchinson, Blake and Teri, Tulsa, Okla.; a sister Linda Hamilton, Fort Meyers, Fla.; two grandsons Hector Amado, Hutchinson and Quinn Brownell, Tulsa.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sept. 28, 2013 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 105 Curtis, Hutchinson, Kan., with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Memorial gifts may be made to the
