Ken Sinclair, a long-time resident of Los Alamos, passed away December 3rd after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Ken was born September 21, 1929, in Forest City, Missouri, and spent his childhood in northwest Missouri and Wyoming. He served for five years in the United States Navy and then completed his bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Colorado Boulder. He moved to Los Alamos in 1958 and worked for Zia Company and then at Los Alamos National Laboratory until his retirement. He met his wife, Jan, after moving to Los Alamos, and they married in 1960.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Julie Sinclair of Lansing, Michigan, Peggy Sinclair-Morris and son-in-law, Allen Morris of Crestwood, Kentucky, three grandchildren: Ray, Lydia, and Quinlan Morris, and sister, Emma Jean Mader and brother-in-law, Charles L. Mader of Honolulu, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan, and his parents, George and Kathryn (Jerry) Sinclair.
Ken loved gardening, travel, reading history, walking his dogs in the canyon, attending the Santa Fe Opera, wearing fun hats, and spending time with his friends and family. He was proud of his three wonderful grandchildren and loved seeing them. Ken was also known for his great sense of humor and his incredible kindness to others. He was a member of the United Church of Los Alamos for 51 years. He was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and supported many others over the years in working towards sobriety.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 1:00 pm at the United Church of Los Alamos, 2525 Canyon Road.
