Wilda Moss Ritchie, 93, passed away on Dec. 19, 2012 in Los Alamos. She was born in Teton City, Idaho on April 8, 1919 to Sterling Ezra Moss and Bessie Ann Clark.
Wilda was gifted musically, she played the piano, the trombone in the high school band, and was exceptionally accomplished on the harmonica. She has always loved singing and participated in many community and church dramatic and musical events. She loved singing at the Day Out program with Ruth at the Betty Erhart Senior Center. Wilda has always done all kinds of handwork. She made afghans and quilts and other crafty things for many family members. The last few years, she has completed numerous beautiful cross-stitch pictures. Always physically active, Wilda greatly enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, and back packing even into her later years.
She is survived by sisters Trilva Patrick of Salt Lake City, Utah and Deanna Stenson (Robert) of Boulder, Colo.; daughter Lou Rae Derricott of Pocatello, Idaho; sons Terry M. Helm (Jan) of Los Alamos and Sidney M. Helm (Susan) of Salt Lake City, Utah; step-son Lynn T. Ritchie (Joan) of Albuquerque; and step-daughters Diane R. Nelson (Nylin) of Rexburg, Idaho and Elaine R. Holloway (Richard) of Rexburg, Idaho. She has 42 grand children, 127 great grandchildren, and 32 great-great grandchildren. Her husband G. Wendel Ritchie and daughter Judith Marie Arnold preceded Wilda in death.
Wilda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. She taught the youth, coached youth sports, and served in the Relief Society women's organization. Services will be held in White Rock at 11:00 a.m. Dec. 26 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 366 Grand Canyon. Internment will be in the Teton City, Idaho cemetery.
