Wilma L. Durham (1923-2018)
Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at age 95, Wilma L Durham passed away in Round Rock, TX where she resided the final 5 years of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Frank Durham, in 2011.
Wilma was born May 13,1923 to Leon and Marie Carver of Wiley, CO. She attended Wiley High School and Colorado State University where she majored in Music.
In June of 1943 she married her high school sweetheart, Franklin Durham, also of Wiley. Wilma and Frank lived in East Hartford CT, Boulder CO, Los Alamos NM, and Tucson AZ. After Frank's passing, Wilma was moved to Round Rock, TX to be near family.
Wilma loved family the most. She was always ready at a moment's notice to help anyone in need. She and Frank hosted family gatherings yearly at their home in Los Alamos which yielded many funny stories still shared amongst family. Wilma loved music, playing piano, singing, teaching and dancing. She taught piano to Los Alamos children for 25 years. Wilma and Frank were members of United Church of Los Alamos for 50 years. Together they sang in the Sanctuary Choir for most of those years. She played piano and organ for services, accompanied the Junior Choir, and served on the Music Board. Wilma was also a member of the Los Alamos Choral Society for many years that included several concert tours of Europe. Wilma and Frank enjoyed many travel experiences throughout the world. She and Frank were also members of the Santa Fe Opera Guild attending the opera as often as they could.
Wilma is survived by daughter and son-in-law Anne and George Cleveland, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Joy Durham, daughter Donna Frederickson, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Guage Pines Cemetery, July 21, 2018.
