Alcaria (Margie) Archuleta-Montaño was born August 27, 1927 in Ensednada, New Mexico to Clara and Francisco Archuleta. She died peacefully in her sleep in her home of 57 years in Los Alamos on January 24, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Raphael Alonzo (Lonny) Montaño and her son, "Baby" Lonny Raphael Montaño. The cross (descanso) at the bottom right side of the main hill was placed there by Margie and Lonny (and daughter, Dolores) in 1973 to commemorate Lonny's death. Margie was the BEST MOTHER EVER KNOWN TO MANKIND. Not only did she and Daddy-O raise their children; they raised Tana, Tuhy and Anthony.
A special thank you has to be given to her daughter, Frances who took care of Mother and Daddy-O and never left their sides during health and sickness along with her sons-Cisco, Lonny and Anthony. Elfego Lovato IV deserves praise for playing the guitar to her during the last few days of her life. Margie was loyal, generous and loving to her husband, family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Thank you to the Los Alamos Visiting Nurses for their support and help, especially to Beverly, Kaye and Pam.
Special thank you to Senator Tom Udall and his aide, Joshua Sanchez, for trying to help my Father, a decorated WWII vet, and his wife to get help from the VA. A special message to Director George Marnell of the Veteran's Administration: You Won!!! WWII vets don't have a chance with the VA in your bureaucratic society and you forgot what it takes to care for a beloved WWII veteran and his wife. Why George?
On February 7, 2014 mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos (which the Montaño families have been members since 1956) and graveside services will be at 1:30 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Margie will rejoin her husband and son in heaven. Thanks to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Juan. (No more Lala; but she will always be in our heart and soul).
