Nancy Weinbrecht passed from this life on May 29 at the age of 86.
Be the first to share your memories or express your condolences in the Guest Book for Nancy Weinbrecht.
Born in San Antonio, Texas to John and Lyde Maher, she was a proud alumni of Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School. Nancy grew up in military families, first as the daughter of a career Army officer, then marrying Capt. John F. Weinbrecht in 1949. Nancy and John moved to Los Alamos in 1953 where they lived happily for over 30 years. She was very involved in church, community, and raising her family.
Nancy later joined Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) as a computer programmer, supporting research at the Meson facility. After John's retirement from LANL in 1983, they moved to Albuquerque becoming active members of St. John's and later St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Nancy enjoyed traveling, grand-mothering, and mastering many different crafts.
She is survived by son John Jr. and wife Paulette of Oklahoma City; son Ed and wife Kathleen of Edgewood; and grandchildren Eden, Eve, and Chelsey Weinbrecht, Shannon McCulloch, Rachelle Young, and Brent Blount. She was preceded in death by husband John after 60 wonderful years together; brother John E. Maher; and grandson Jeff Foster.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mark's-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place NE in Albuquerque. Nancy will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with John. A wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be sorely missed, but leaves a legacy of love, caring, and giving of herself.
In lieu of flowers, Nancy's family requests donations be made to either St. Mark's Memorial Fund or to a charity of your choosing. Visit our online guestbook for Nancy at www.FrenchFunerals.com.
