Beatty, Richard  
Richard A. Beatty LANCASTER: Richard A. Beatty, age 93 of Lancaster, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 25th, 2015, while surrounded by his loving family at Heartland Fairfield Nursing Center in Pleasantville. He was born to the late, Noah and Bertha Elijah Beatty on April 11, 1922. He owned and operated his own business, R.A. Beatty Tree and Lawn Service. Richard was a religious man, who guided his family and friends through his faith in God. He was a hardworking and compassionate man who would give from his heart if anyone was in need. Richard was a WWII veteran proudly serving from November 1942 to January 1946. He lost his right eye in Europe during combat in Company A 70th Infantry division as a first scout because of this, he received the Purple Heart. He was also awarded the Carnegie Medal of Honor in 1967, when he saved two pilots from a burning plane that had crashed in Ashland, OH. He is survived by his children, Bryan R. Beatty, Kevin A. (Lisa) Beatty and Marlene (Keith) Julian; son-in-law, Terry Harvey Sr.; grandchildren, Sherry Harvey, Terry Harvey Jr., Hollie Stolzenburg, Brandy Craiglow, Heath Julian, Brad Beatty, Shawn Harvey, Justin Julian; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marvine, 1993; daughter, Shirley K. Harvey, 2009; granddaughter, Carla A. Harvey 2014; brothers, Homer, Edward, Wayne, and Pearl; and sisters, Elsie, Grace, Mary, Harriet, Delma, and Wanda. He will now be at peace with his loved ones that have gone before him. He was the best father and grandfather in the world, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. This world was a better place by having him in it. Goodbye Richard, there was no one like you before, nor will there be anyone like you again. A funeral service will take place at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday at 11AM, officiated by Rev. Gary Beatty. The Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will have a committal service at Hamburg Cemetery, following the service. Family and friends may call on Monday from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service. Boggess, Chuck  
Chuck Boggess LANCASTER: Chuck Boggess, 65, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015. Chuck served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. Chuck is survived by his grandson, Hayden Boggess; sister, Barbara Glaze; daughter-in-law, Stacy Hill; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Boggess; parents, Harold and Mona Boggess; and niece, Pamela Boggess. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday at the FRANK E. SMTIH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Chaplain Kermit Welty officiating. Friends may visit from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Caring Cremation will follow the service. Boice, Idell  
Idell Boice LANCASTER: Idell Boice, 89, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Monday, June 30 at her home on Peters Avenue in Lancaster. Born in Calhoun, Georgia in 1925 to Russell and Lula Blalock, she was preceded in death by both parents, all siblings and husband, Bobby Jim Boice. Surviving her are one son, Jim, and two daughters, Lisa and Laura; grandchildren, Jeremy, Nick, Isaac, Idell, Emily, Tyson, Song, Brook, Beau, Reed, Kitt and Bay; great grandchildren, James, Luke, Colin, Evan, Aylah, Stella, Malcom, Remy, Belle, Kate, Lucy, Paisley, Lane, Finn and Cambria. Idell was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader and worked as an interior designer for over 40 years, but her real love was being a Bible teacher. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and taught dozens of people truths from God's Word. She was an active member of the Lancaster West Congregation. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Sunday, July 12 at the Kingdom Hall, 1602 Cedar Hill Rd, Lancaster, with grandson Nick Boice officiating. Friends may call prior to service from 4-6.

Bowers, Broadrick  
Broadrick "Rick" Bowers CARROLL: Broadrick "Rick" Bowers, 69, passed away at his home on June 24, 2015. He was a 1963 graduate of Mifflin High School. Rick retired from Ameritech after over 30 years of service. He was a member of the local corvette club and an avid Columbus Blue Jackets and Ohio State University fan. Rick is survived by his children, Kim (Doug) Sipes, Brian (Dee Dee) Bowers, and Brent (Sheila) Bowers; grandchildren, Brad, Graham, Chris, Greg, Sidney, Gabi, and Garrett; siblings, Sharon Baird, Dedee Garwood, and Randy Bowers; special friends, Jane Drake and Lonnie and Donna Kosch; mother of his children, Sunny Herron; and his girls, Paddy and Darby. He is preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth "Bette" Bowers and his parents, James Bowers and Almetta (Bryant) Neal. Caring Cremation® has taken place with the Frank E. Dodson, Ruth  
Ruth Fancher Dodson LANCASTER: Ruth Fancher Dodson, 88, died peacefully on June 29th, 2015 at Primrose Retirement Community. On March 11, 1927, she was born in Messhoppen, PA, to the late Lloyd & Elizabeth Fancher. She graduated from High School in Montrose, PA. At one point in her career, she worked for the Department of Navy in the Pentagon. Ruth was married to two career naval officers and lived in VA, SC, HI, and FL, before coming to Ohio. She loved traveling, taking care of family, gardening, playing bridge, volunteering and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She was a proud Charter Member of the Tidewater Retired Officers Wives Club in Norfolk, VA. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karen Taskey of Lancaster; grandson, Nicholas Taskey Cirivello of Charleston, WV; and stepdaughter, Mary (John) Parks of Fair Grove, MO. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, LCDR Stanley R. Taskey, and LCDR Ola A. Dodson; brother, Richard Fancher; and sister, Barbara Bobb. A Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church Chapel on Friday July 3rd, 2015 at 11AM with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place through the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date where she will be laid to rest by with her husband, Ola Dodson. Doughty, Kerri  
Kerri Doughty COLUMBUS: Kerri Doughty went to be with the Lord very suddenly June 22, 2015. Kerri was a proud alumni of WV Fisher Catholic High School and Capital University. She was a CPA and was employed at Nesser Consulting. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was very involved in women's ministries, teaching Sunday School, serving on their online worship, serving meals each month at the homeless shelter and serving on the Outreach, Missions and Involvement with Neighbors Committees. She also attended St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church. She is survived by husband, Brett Doughty; parents, Randy and Joan Miller; siblings, Kelli (Dean) May, Kami (Justin) Perdue, Anthony ( Heather) Miller, Katie Miller, Kasie Miller, Kirsten Miller, and Kayla Miller; grandparents, Alma Bennett and Ellen Miller; and in-laws, Patty and Bill Doughty and Tricia (Rick) Talbott. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, James Bennett and Earl Miller; and great grandmother, Ella Miller. Services will be held Monday, June 29 at Trinity UMC at 1581 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus 43212 with the viewing at 9:30 and a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio, at 2:00. Dunn, Georgia Stilwell  
Georgia Stilwell Dunn LEBANON: Georgia Stilwell Dunn 63, of Lebanon, died peacefully June 24, 2015. She was originally from Baltimore, Ohio, graduating from Liberty-Union H.S. Well known for her quick wit, a sense of humor, and an ability to make everyone feel welcome, she found ways to capture and share her joy for life. She taught English and journalism at New Richmond H.S. and Wilmington H.S. until retiring in 2002. She was very involved in scholastic journalism both locally and nationally, receiving top honors from NSPA and JEA. She taught an online masters course in journalism for Kent State with husband Wayne. She was an active, long-time member of Bethany UCC where she coordinated activities for IHN and the Lebanon Food Pantry. With a passion and talent for music, she was one of the Dickens Carollers and Jay and Company. As its Managing Director she led the Lebanon Theatre Co. to become a local and regional institution. She produced most of their shows, directing several. To many, she was LTC. She was a member of a local homemakers club and the Lebanon Marathon Bridge Club. She is preceded in death by her mother, Flossie (Crago); grandparents, Percy and Laura (Freed) Crago and Fred and Olive (Koontz) Stilwell, and an infant sister. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Dunn; father George Stilwell; brothers, Mike (Mallory) and Tom (Molly) Stilwell, sisters, Dianne Stilwell and Sherry (Dwayne) Lester; and many nieces and nephews, both regular and grand. She also leaves behind an immeasurable mark on people she knew and worked with. The family will receive visitors July 18 from 4-6 p.m. and celebrate her life July 19 at 5 p.m. at the theatre. Finley, Shirley L.  
Shirley L. Finley LANCASTER: Shirley L. Finley, 78, of Lancaster passed away on Thursday July 2, 2015 at the Heartland of Fairfield in Pleasantville. She was born on April 13, 1937 in Lancaster to the late Fondo and Bertha (McCartney) Finley Sr. Shirley worked at the Fairfield Medical Center and retired from Macy's Department Store. She was an avid member of the Alzheimer's Association. Shirley volunteered as a caregiver at nursing homes, she was an avid gardener and she enjoyed her parrot Ollie. Shirley is survived by her sons, Harold (Charlotte) Winegardner, and Hubert (Diane McCormick) Winegardner; daughter, Debbie (Richard) Packard; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Leona Gordon, sister, Alice (Terry) Walker; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Warren J. Butte; brother, Fondo Finley Jr.; half sister, Betty Jorgenson. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30AM on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Sheridan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Rose Cemetery. Doris E. Gaines LANCASTER: Doris E. Gaines, 90, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on June 28, 2015 at the Homestead Nursing Home. She was born on April 23, 1925 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. She worked at the RBM, Anchor Hocking and cared for many families. She is survived by her children John Lynn, Maui, Hawaii; Louise (Jim) Calandra, Lancaster; Richard (Darlene) Homer, Chillicothe; Betty (George) Cissell, Louisville, KY; Barbie (Jeff) Whittington, Lancaster; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; friends Bonita, Barb, Esther and Lenora. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Orma and Norman Gaines, brother John Gaines, sister Mary Swiger, beloved son Steve Lynn and grandson Bryon Thomas. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00AM on Thursday July 2, 2015 at the Sheridan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Ruth Annabell Hemsworth LANCASTER: Ruth Annabell Hemsworth, 84, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at Crestview Skilled Nursing Home in Lancaster. Born November 24, 1930, at Diamond, Ohio, the daughter of Maxine and Gerald Jeffrey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Hemsworth, and sister, Evelyn Franko. She is survived by three brothers, Carl Jeffrey and Bill (Jan) Jeffrey of Lancaster, Ohio, and Gary (Maria) Jeffrey of Grosse Ile, Michigan; two nieces; three nephews; step-sons, Doug Thatcher and Chuck Thatcher; and three grandchildren. She was a homemaker, worked at Ridge Tool in Elyria, and DSC in Columbus through the years. Throughout her life, faith has always been important to Annabell. For many years, Annabell and her sister shared God's word through their evangelistic singing and Annabell was always devoted to the various churches where she attended. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster, Ohio. Interment will be at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Logan, Ohio. Friends may call at 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
