Dee D. Wheeler (W8GKN)

REYNOLDSBURG: Dee D. Wheeler, age 77, of Reynoldsburg, OH, passed away on December 26, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born January 16, 1935 in Columbus, OH.

Preceded in death by parents Dale and Leota (Ford); wife Ivory Jane; daughter Dawn L. Heck; and sister Nancy Doyle.

Survived by wife Patricia (Coakley) Wheeler; daughter Catherine and Brian Brobst; granddaughters Amber Brobst and Carla Smurthwaite; and great grandson James Smurthwaite; additionally four step-children; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Dee was a graduate of University (Little Bucks) School of 1952 and a 60 year member of both the Quarter Century Wireless Association (QCWA) and the Central Ohio Radio Club (CORC). Dee had a vast knowledge of electronics and communications and was always willing to share that knowledge and assist in any way he could. Dee received his first amateur radio license in 1951, retired from ODOT in two way communications, and enjoyed mall walking at Eastland Mall.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church.
