Helen C. "Nellie" Hill
LANCASTER: Helen C. "Nellie" Hill, 93, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. She was born on October 21, 1919 in Lancaster to the late William and Margaret (Bletzacker) Bininger. Helen was a switchboard operator at the Fairfield County Courthouse before retiring as an employee of the Fairfield County Sheriff's office. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Lancaster, a member of the Madonna Guild, and a devoted mother and homemaker to her five children. Over the years she enjoyed cross stitch, ceramics, jigsaw puzzles, participating in card club, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter and caregiver Karen Hill, her three sons Christopher "Chris" (Joyce) Hill, caregiver Patrick Hill, and Richard Hill all of Lancaster; grandson Christopher A. (Christina) Hill and great grandson Lucas Hill of Thornville; step-great granddaughter Stephanie Moore and fiancée Brandon Grandominico, and great-great granddaughter Hunter Elaine Grandominico of Lancaster; her best friend Madeline Probasco of Lancaster, close friend Jenny Finnen of Zanesville; sister-in-law Janet Hill of Bremen, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Michele Hill, her brothers and sister-in-law: William and Margaret Bininger, Richard "Dick" and "Betty" Bininger; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth "Betty" and Francis Smith, Mary and John "Jack" Hollett, Agnes "Ceil" and William "Bill" Fisher; and brothers, George Martin, James, and Thaddeus Bininger.
Family and Friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00p.m. on Friday, January 18, at the Sheridan Funeral Home, 222 S. Columbus St., Lancaster with a vigil service at 7:30PM. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, January 19, at the St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church, 132 S. High St., Lancaster, with Fr. James Walter as Celebrant. A graveside service will follow at the St. Mary Cemetery.
