So sorry to hear about Melissa's passing. She recently introduced herself to me at the Ohio State Thespian Conference in Cincinnati a few months ago. She knew I was from Lancaster and we were in the same workshop at the conference. She was so friendly and excited to run into a fellow LHS graduate. My deepest sympathies to the family.

I've been thinking of Melissa and your family often this week, and am feeling such heartache at this loss. I had the pleasure of attending two summers of grad school with Melissa here in Chicago the past two years. This summer would have been her third and final summer of coursework towards her Masters in Directing. Her joyful spirit, creative soul and generous heart will be sorely missed.

Miss Montag was someone who was a tremendous influence on my son. She is the one who gave him the confidence to get up on stage and perform, something he may not have otherwise done. His and the lives of so many other Wayne students will forever be changed because of the amazing person Miss Montag was. She would be so proud of how they are honoring her and stepping up to fill her unfillable shoes. I personally will never feel the same walking into the Wayne High School auditorium. It will be very strange not seeing her amazing smile. It was always there, no matter how stressed she was! My heart goes out to her family, especially her mother, who was always at her side at the shows. I know you are looking down telling the kids "the show must go on"

May God be with the Montags now and always. Melissa was such an accomplished teacher, director, and musician. She always gave me laughs on facebook, and she told me a week and a half ago that she was going to buy me a beer. She had better have one waiting for me when I get up to her Heavenly home. She probably already has the angels dancing in a chorus line! May God hold her in the palm of His hand.
