Ralph B. "Dutch" Uhl
LANCASTER: Ralph B. "Dutch" Uhl, 88, of Lancaster, went home to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Fairfield Medical Center. He was born on August 19, 1925.
Dutch is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Helen Uhl; brothers, Bob (Mabel) Uhl, Dick (Millie) Uhl; brothers-in-law, Don Fox and Jim Baughman.
He is survived by wife of 65 Years, Betty (Fisher) Uhl; children, Jeff (Karen) Uhl, Steve (Milissa) Uhl, Nancy (Bruce) Allmon, Mark Uhl, and Susan (Tom) Rose; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Fox, Helen Louise Baughman, and Jim (Barb) Uhl; many nieces and nephews.
Dutch served in the U.S. Navy
as a Signalman on the U.S.S. Walter S. Brown, DE 258 in World War II
. He retired from Ohio Bell on August 31, 1982 after 34 years. Dutch was a member of St. Mary's Church, Knights of Columbus, AMVETS, and the American Legion. Knights of Columbus recognized him on November 13, 2012 as Veteran of the year. Dutch enjoyed golfing, watching Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Cincinnati Reds sports. He was loved dearly by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 28 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church with Fr. Craig Eilerman as Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail. Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME with a vigil service conducted at 7:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Schools in memory of Dutch.
